We do believe, injustice has been done to the VTU CBCS students as one-time exit system has only been introduced for non-CBCS students.
Under the one-time exit system the non-CBCS students will not be hold back in case they did not clear some subjects. This was a great decision introduced by the VTU on 13th September. This rule has helped around 20,000 students of VTU for old scheme.
VTU CBCS Students Protest One-Time Exit System
Now, the problem here is the university has not made any changes for CBCS students i.e new scheme. The new students did protest against this to the university but it was not on a large scale. So, on Wednesday, the students have protested against varsity decision on large scale at freedom park in Bengaluru.
A student under the CBCS scheme said, “This is not fair. We have struggled and faced umpteen number of irregularities from the university. We too have written continuous exams. Hence, we are protesting the cancellation of the year-back system.”
A senior official from VTU said, “We do not know why students are hell-bent on this. It is going to affect their career if things are done this way. Also, any education expert can vouch for the fact that scrapping of the year-back system for non-CBCS scheme will only end up in a disaster. Also, how many examinations do we need to keep conducting for the students?”
The decision to introduced one time exit system was introduced after special executive council meeting was held earlier this month.
Before the official meeting, VTU authorities had conducted a meeting with the board of studies members and had come to a decision that cancelling of the year-back system will bring the quality of education down in the university.
